Do You Need Rest? Come To Me, All Who Are Weary

11/28/2018

The past six months have been extremely exhausting for me. There hasn't been a crisis or anything like that.
It just feels like 10,000 small burdens have been placed on my back.
The result is that I'm so...
...very...
...weary.
It's the kind of weariness that requires more than sleep.
Yet through all of this, I'm starting to learn an incredibly profound lesson - something that's changing the way I live.
The lesson? I can't be the burden bearer. That's Jesus' job.

Can You Lose Your Salvation? No, and Here's Why

11/19/2018

Let me invite you into my neurotic, fearful brain. Between the ages of 16-18, I had a crisis of faith.
I was absolutely terrified that I was going to lose my salvation (or that I never had it in the first place). I knew my sinfulness. I knew how weak I was.
How could I have ANY confidence that I would stay a Christian until the end?
Plus, there are some scriptures that make it seem like a Christian can lose their salvation.
Honestly, I was really, really scared about it. This was a severe mercy from God, because it forced me to dive deep into the Bible. I had to wrestle with the scriptures to see what they really said.
Could a true Christian lose their salvation?
Here's the answer I came away with.

Do You Live In The Glorious Freedom Of "It Is Finished"?

11/15/2018

I have a problem. Actually, I have many problems, including an addiction to these crackers called "Grooves" that taste like heaven.
But this is a much bigger problem.
In my head, I know that when Jesus said, "It is finished," he really meant it. I know that I should be living in the glorious freedom of those words.
Unfortunately, most of the time I DON'T live like it's finished. I live like there's more to be done. More to be added to the finished work of Christ. More hustle needed on my part.
Instead of experiencing the almost delirious joy that comes with knowing it's finished, I live under a heavy weight of guilt and condemnation.
I, for one, can assure you that this is not a pleasant experience.
So what's the solution? It seems like I really need to dig down into what Jesus meant when he said, "It is finished."
Man...once you start digging, it's hard to stop. It's that good.
