My Personal Humility Poster

10/13/2007

We've all seen inspirational posters in the dentist's office. They're meant to inspire us to greater heights of achievement. But I don't need motivational posters, because I'm proud enough as it is. So I've come up with something called "humility posters", which will serve to humble me whenever I look at them. Perhaps you will find this helpful as well. Enjoy! For those who are wondering, I created this using a software called "Poster Forge".

Very good Stephen. As one who works in a Fortune 500 company with the ubiquitous posters hanging in the hallways, I love your satire. I dream of one day sneaking into the office, replacing every poster with its "evil twin" (see below), and seeing how long before the first person notices....perhaps April Fools Day 2008.
For a very good laugh, go to http://www.despair.com/viewall.html

(I have no financial interest in Despair.com...I just love their stuff)

JeffO,

I have seen despair.com and think it's pretty funny as well. I worked for a large corporation for a while and heard plenty of "inspirational" talks as well. It's hard to be inspired in a cubicle...

While it is absolutely unbiblical, I also liked despair.com; mostly for it's satire and downright crass and insensative tones. But I only really like it because I look at it as being fake. If the site was real (i.e. took itself seriously) and if I thought the slogans were intended to be followed, then I wouldn;t like it at all. Nevertheless, I did enjoy that everything there was the opposite of what I have learned and/or exactly what I would like to say to ruffle a few feathers if that would not be unkind and probably bet me fired to boot. Anyway, that site was decent. Some of the poster were cool, some were dumb, and some I just really did nit like, but in general it was pretty cool.
